Building Strength in Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is great for helping you to build both strength and flexibilty in your body and your mind. In this workshop we will break down how to build strength in your yoga practice drawing on Helen's own extensive practice and experience of building strength in her own body to help you to develop your own strength. We will look in depth at the key poses that help build strength in Ashtanga Yoga with particular focus on chaturanga (the yoga press up), jumping through and jumping back. Helen will provide modifications to suit all abilities as well as progressions so you can see how you can develop your strength beyond the workshop. The workshop will draw on anatomy and physiology to help you understand how to develop strength as well as access the correct muscles. We will also look at how building strength in your body, and the journey that that will take you on, can help you build strength and fortitude in your life.
